The brief

Cover the event. But make people feel what it is to ride it.

The London to Brighton is one of the UK's most iconic cycle rides. Thousands of riders. A 54-mile route from the capital to the coast. Commissioned by Skyline Events to cover the 2026 edition, the primary brief was clear: capture the event at scale. But the brief that mattered most was the one running alongside it.

The secondary commission was to document the rider experience from the inside. Not the crowds at the finish line, not the sponsor banners, not the overview shots that look like every other event album. The brief was to capture what it actually feels like to be a rider on the day. The early start. The road opening up ahead of you. The climb. The moment the sea comes into view.

That requires a different approach to event photography entirely. You have to be in it, not watching it. Moving with the riders, anticipating the moments before they happen, reading the energy of the group rather than waiting for a clean shot from the side of the road.

The result is a body of work that does both jobs well. Coverage that Skyline Events can use across all their marketing and communications, and rider content that captures the emotion and atmosphere of a day that thousands of people train months for. Images that make riders who were there want to relive it, and riders who weren't want to sign up.
